Amazon Prime Day 2020: Tips to get the best deals on appliances, fashion and smart devices

Dust off your credit card and charge up your computer: You’ve been waiting long enough for Amazon Prime Day and, after being delayed in July, it’s finally here.

Starting at the first second of Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Wednesday, Oct. 14, you can find more than one million deals to enjoy now or hold for the holiday season.

TVs, toys, electronics, kitchen, home, fashion and beauty are sure to be hot categories during the 48-hour sales event as well as Amazon devices.

Download the Amazon app and be notified when the price drops on your watch list for Roborock robot vacuum, Keurig coffee makers, Under Armour sports and casual apparel, Coleman tents and camping equipment, Simple Joys by Carter’s infant clothing, Adidas shoes and clothing and Marvel.

If you’re not already a Prime member, sign up for a free 30-day trial to shop advance sale and receive free two-day shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music and access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. After that, it’s $12.99 per month or $119 per year. If you’re a student, you can get a free six-month trial, which is followed by a charge of $6.49 per month.

For a limited time, people who sign up for Prime using an Echo device will receive a $5 Amazon credit. Just say, “Alexa, sign me up for Prime.”

Here are some of the early Prime Day deals released before Tuesday:

  • Third generation Echo Dot compact smart speaker with a fabric design for $18.99 (discounted from $49.99). Ask Alexa to play music, answer questions, read the news, check the weather, set alarms and control compatible smart home devices.
  • Fire HD 10-inch tablet with 32 GB of storage for $79.99 (regularly $149.99)
  • All-new Fire HD 8-inch Kids Edition tablet in a kid-proof case for $79.99 (regularly $139.99)
  • Get four months of Amazon Music Unlimited’s more than 60 million songs as well as podcasts for just $0.99 if you’re a Prime members who hasn’t already subscribed.
  • Save $50 on a year of Audible Premium Plus if you’re a Prime member and new customers to Kindle Unlimited save 50% off a 6-month subscription.
  • Spend $20 on ebooks and get a $5 ebook credit. Prime members can choose two, new select Kindle books for free.
  • Save up to 30% on select Vineyard Vines clothing for men.
  • Get up to 15% off select fall fashion from Shopbop.
  • And save up to 30% on select kids’ and baby clothing and shoes.
