It’s a little known fact that retail therapy makes people feel good. People are always shopping for clothes and are always willing to spend money on fashions and styles that suit them. A successful clothing store can be a very healthy asset and if you do your homework right (i.e., research your demographic before opening and know what styles and trends they want to follow.) Finally having opened the doors to allow those floods of people into your shop; you are more than likely on the road to success. If however you’re finding that you’re not making your target goals and there are definitely room for improvements. Then this article will give you a few tips to help you improve your sales.
You only need to look at the larger chain stores to see what they’re doing and what you’re not doing to be successful. For example, Victoria’s Secret has models posted all over the wall wearing their bras and the undergarments. Why? Because people like to visit and see themselves in those clothes. They like to see what they would look like and having that visual image reinforces their buying power, the same goes for sport stores. If you look in sport stores you will always see the latest golf shoes on some professional golfer. You will see the latest basketball clothing being displayed on a rising star, etc. Your store is no different. Having posters up of clothing that you sell or the styles of clothing that you sell will help boost your revenue.
This is a common problem that I have found in most clothing stores. Studies prove that people are happier in a brighter environment. So if your store is dull, and only operating off of natural light then maybe you should consider getting brighter lights or more lights in your store. Now, I’m not talking about turning your store into a blinding white light. You don’t want people to have to struggle to see anything in your store. Also, because of the light brightness, people’s mood improves and their endorphins are increased. People who are happy with endorphins jumping around will be more likely to buy on impulse.
My final piece of advice is once again, you only need to look at the big stores and see what they’re doing. Why do big stores always have sales on, because sales sell. Having a few good monthly sales will boost your shops turnover. You can see when large retail shops in your area tend to have sales and try to do a sale just before or just after. Now remember the thing with sales is, it really needs to be a sale. So you need to be prepared to lower your prices slightly 5-10% to be able to sell in quantity, and remember. Try different sales strategies and see what works best for your customers.
